Plan your Alaska salmon fishing vacation early to reserve your spot.
Portions of the Gulkana River are not available to the public, requiring permits for access. Our campsites and R.V. hookups allow for private, quiet access to the river so you can avoid the crowds during the king salmon season. Our 155-acre plot is perfect for hiking, camping, fishing or just exploring. The campsite is gated, and has 24-hour security on staff. Filtered water, dump station and dumpsters are available from June 1st through August 31st.
A variety of amenities including hotels, B&B’s, restaurants, gas stations and Laundromats are located nearby.
The salmon season runs from June 1st to July 19th for the Gulkana River. 20 miles to the south at the Klutina River, the season extends until July 31st.
The prime part of the world famous Copper River Sockeye run starts roughly at the end of the King Salmon season and continues through the end of August. Huge runs of these Sockeye pass by our park and hold up in several holes along our 750 ft. of shoreline. Catch them directly from our banks or enjoy a float trip with our experienced and knowledgeable guides.
Fishing for all other species is available through the summer, including rainbow trout/steelhead, arctic grayling, whitefish, longnose suckers, and lamprey.
The Alaskan wilderness is ever present at our portion of the river, including bald eagles, moose, caribou, and various species of bear. The river offers viewers and photographers opportunities for photograph wild flowers, many species of birds, as well as the sweeping mountain views.
The Gulkana River has been designated as part of the National Wild and Scenic River System by the Bureau of Land Management and by the Alaskan National Interest Lands Conservation Act in 1980.
